Places to visit in Northern Cyprus

Bellapais Abbey
The Bellapais Abbey building is considered the most beautiful Gothic structure in the Middle East. The original building was built between 1198 and 1205, when the "White Abbey" was located here. Most of the modern complex was built during the reign of King Hugh III (1267-1284). Quite an interesting attraction of Northern Cyprus – it is worth seeing.
Kantara Castle
The castle was built in the X century by the Byzantines on the place of the monastery of the Virgin Mary Kantara. It offers a beautiful view of the mountains and the sea, and a special atmosphere at sunset.
The ancient city of Salamis
Salamis was founded by Teutzer, the son of King Telamon. It is believed that this Roman city was originally limited to a small area around the harbor and gradually expanded, especially from about 1100 BC, when the neighboring Engomi was abandoned and its inhabitants moved to Salamis. This is one of the most impressive sights of Northern Cyprus.
Famagusta Attractions
In Famagusta, you can see the following sights of Northern Cyprus: Othello Castle, ruins of churches and cathedrals, as well as the temple of Mustafa Lala Pasha, Varosha quarter and others.
Karpas and Wild Donkey Reserve
At the geographical end of the island, closer to the Cape of the Apostle Andrew, there is a gorgeous nature reserve with wild donkeys. They are very fond of tourists' treats.
